it's the little things. {day 3 of 14}

i though i would share a few pictures of what i have been up to lately, since it's also something i am extremely grateful for and often overwhelms my heart when i think about it. the last two weeks of july i went back up to school to help with orientation camps for the new students with intellectual/developmental disabilities who will be starting in the fall. these individuals are blessings from God in my life in a multitude of ways.

{1} they are some of my best friends. i have learned about unconditional love from them. truly, they have taught me much about looking past a person's outside and appreciating who they are on the inside.

{2} they bring extra smiles and laughter into my life. it's hard not to smile when i am with them. viewing things from their perspective is often quite humorous. other times, it is just as simple as sharing a silly joke. "hey." "Hay's for horses." watching corey's eyes light up and a grin start to form when i did that the first time last year was so worth it, even though he now does the joke almost every time i see him. :)

{3} they teach me to appreciate and celebrate the little things in life. the final goal at the end of the race is not reached in one big step. it involves many baby steps full of learning curves, hard work, and sometimes tears. but it is also in these small steps where memories are made and new discoveries about ourselves are found.
