applesauce, music, memories.

my favorite snack of late has been cinnamon applesauce. i don't like to buy cinnamon applesauce because it has sugar in it, so i compromise by buying plain applesauce and adding my own cinnamon. that way i can add as much as i want. i like it very cinnamonny (i know that's not a word... but it could be. new words are added to English every day, you know).

last wednesday i had a paper due for my music of the peoples of the world class. for a 24 hour period i was to keep a record of all the music i heard and then write a paper summarizing all of it. the best part of the assignment ended up being when i heard a song on a chevy commercial from a show i used to watch when i was little. i think i watched every episode of sharon, lois, and bram's elephant show that was available at the library a zillion times. i think i'm going to enjoy having a music class this semester, but there is a piano in the classroom. my fingers are itching to get reacquainted with the keys. i also have to pass by all the individual practice rooms to get to my class. so many pianos. hmm...

my boss's mom's battle with esophageal cancer ended last week. the funeral was this afternoon and i went with my roommate and two other friends. it was a lovely service celebrating her going home-to her real home in the presence of her Savior. although it was sad, her life was a testimony to the God who loved her and by whose stripes she was healed. at the end of the service, a man sang this song. memories of my granny's funeral this summer flooded my thoughts and i managed to keep the tears at bay until they sang that song. it was the first song i heard right after i found out my granny had passed away. maybe my granny got to help welcome mrs. fran to heaven. i love you so, granny!
