birth stories.
a dear friend wrote on her blog the other day about holding a newborn and thinking about how her mom tells her her birth story every year on her birthday. one day she was driving through the texas hill country and she decided to spend some time telling Jesus His birth story. i love sitting with my mom, hearing about all the things that happened the day i was born. like how i was born on a friday afternoon during a thunderstorm and when they brought me home from the hospital they didn't have an infant car seat so they piled blanket after blanket around me in a regular car seat. this afternoon driving through the cold rain and fog in the mountains, i told Jesus some of His birth story. i think He enjoyed hearing my ramble of a story interrupted here and there with whatever christmas carol popped into my head. i sure enjoyed it and was utterly, completely overwhelmed by His love for me. i have arranged another date with Jesus to tell Him the rest of His story because i got choked up at one point and couldn't go on. i ended up just singing to Him for a long time. i don't think He minded a bit. it was a wonderful ending to my semester.
